Employee Interview

Head Office Safety Promotion Office Safety Promotion Section

The seven airports operated by HAP have introduced a system known as the "Safety Management System," which meets international standards, with the aim of ensuring safe and secure airport operations. One of the roles of the Safety Promotion Office is to promote the establishment and continuous improvement of this system at each airport and across all seven airports. Within this role, I am in charge of improving operational efficiency using the system and providing in-house training to promote understanding of the "Safety Management System."

Previously, I was in charge of developing and maintaining in-house systems at a life insurance company in Tokyo, but when I started thinking about moving to Hokkaido, which seems like a nice place to live and is rich in nature, I found out about the job openings at HAP. As I majored in German as a student and had experience studying abroad, I applied because I wanted to work in a position that would help spread the appeal of Hokkaido both domestically and internationally.

For better or worse, I think HAP is a company that does not have a strong corporate culture or distinctive character. I feel that HAP's strength lies in the fact that employees with a variety of backgrounds, including new graduates, mid-career employees, and those on loan, can work together, utilizing their experience and skills, and create new possibilities without being bound by one way of thinking.

An incident that did not result in an accident but felt dangerous is called a "near miss." HAP had a suggestion box for collecting such cases, but it had not been used until now because it was time-consuming to post handwritten notes. So, they introduced a system that allows cases to be posted by scanning a QR code, and now they collect 4-5 pieces of information per month.

I feel that there are many opportunities at HAP, so I want to become someone who can seize them. I want to overcome challenges and further develop my strengths so that I don't give up on great opportunities due to a lack of ability. My goal is to become someone that people think, "I want to entrust this person with my work."

Many companies around the world claim to promote diversity, but HAP is truly a cluster of diversity. In a company where a wide variety of opinions fly around, the ability to think about things from a bird's eye view is essential. I want to work with people who can move forward with their work by considering and discussing what the company should be like, rather than just focusing on their own surroundings and immediate profits.

How to spend your holidays

Whenever I have a slightly longer vacation, I like to travel. Recently, I went to Nagoya to meet a friend and then did some sightseeing in Shiga Prefecture. In Nagoya, I visited Inuyama Castle. I would like to visit all of the castles in Japan that still have surviving castle towers.
