Employee Interview

Obihiro Airport Business Office Management Department Sales Section

When I joined the company, I was assigned to Obihiro Airport, where I worked in the Business Management Division to take over the airport's operations business, and then moved to the Sales Division after the merger with the airport building company. The Sales Division's work consists of "sales" and "retail," and I am mainly in charge of providing a full range of services for airport users, including "tenant management," "event planning," and "various data collection and analysis work."

I got a job at a company in Tokyo as a new graduate, but as the COVID-19 pandemic forced me to continue working from home, I started to reconsider my future career and felt a stronger desire to work in the aviation industry, which I had always been interested in. At the time, the aviation industry was also in a very difficult situation, but I joined the company because I was attracted by the large scale of operating seven airports in Hokkaido.

This event, which combines airport and camping, was held for the third time this year. It was started with the aim of revitalizing Obihiro Airport amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and offers special experiences such as pitching a tent within the airport facilities and entering the runway at night. This year, participants stayed overnight in a camper van with a view of the runway, and the limited number of five groups was quickly filled up.

Last year, we had far more visitors than we expected at our "Sky Day" event, which is held every September. While we were pleased with this, it also caused long traffic jams leading to the parking lot, which could have affected passengers boarding their planes. We managed to resolve the issue by working together with all parties involved, but it was an experience that made us realize the importance of planning for various scenarios.

The goal is to further increase the value of Obihiro Airport by improving comfort and convenience. Tokachi is full of attractions such as food, magnificent scenery, and activities, and we would like to implement measures to make people realize this at the airport, which is the gateway to the region. We would also like to increase the passport acquisition rate of Tokachi residents, which is estimated to be low compared to other regions, and in the future we would like to make efforts to make international flights available in addition to domestic flights.

HAP is a company that is open to new initiatives and allows you to reflect your own "I want to do this!", but safety and security are at the core of it all. To achieve this, it is important to be able to communicate with those around you and do the basic things properly. I would be happy to work with people who are cheerful and willing to take on challenges in order to achieve their goals.

How to spend your holidays

I'm hooked on cooking, something I wasn't very good at before coming to Obihiro. I love tomato dishes and often make minestrone soup. There are so many delicious restaurants in Tokachi that I end up overeating, but I want to work hard to improve my cooking skills!
