Employee Interview
Head Office Airport Business Headquarters, Security and Disaster Prevention Department, Security and Disaster Prevention Section
Please tell us about your work
This department supports the people who work on-site to ensure the safety and security of Hokkaido's seven airports. Security and disaster prevention operations are broadly divided into "security operations" to prevent hijackings and illegal entry, and "fire and rescue operations" to respond to aircraft accidents and other emergencies, and employees at each airport carry out these tasks on a daily basis. Within this department, I am in charge of negotiating and coordinating with security and firefighting companies, and promoting operational efficiency by utilizing systems.
How did you end up joining HAP?
I went to a Tokyo university from my hometown of Muroran and worked at a foundation in Tokyo for about two years as a new graduate. I realized that although many people want to go to Hokkaido, only a few actually visit. At that time, I learned about HAP's recruitment information and changed jobs because I wanted to convey the goodness of Hokkaido from the outside to more people.

Please tell us about your career from the time you joined the company to the present.
After joining the company, I worked in the Security and Disaster Prevention Division at New Chitose Airport Office for two years, where I learned firsthand the importance of on-site work that supports airport safety and security behind the scenes. After that, I was transferred to my current department, where I support the Security and Disaster Prevention Divisions at seven airports. I aim to make use of my experience in the field of security and disaster prevention to achieve smoother and more effective operations.
What is your most memorable experience working here?
A few months after joining the company, I was put in charge of planning and running drone intrusion response training. As this was the first training at HAP, there was nothing to refer to, so I was absorbed in creating a scenario customized for New Chitose Airport based on relevant regulations and coordinating with the police and other relevant organizations. I am proud to have been able to lay the foundation for the training, which is still conducted every year.

What are your dreams and goals for the future?
I have been involved in security and disaster prevention work up until now, so next I would like to gain new experiences in a completely different department. I would like to broaden my horizons by taking on a variety of tasks that I am not yet familiar with. My vision for the future is to be someone that people think, "I feel safe knowing that I'm with them."
What message would you like to give to those who want to become HAP?
HAP's work is so broad, I think it's best suited to people who can proactively work while communicating with those around them. Compared to when I joined the company, the number of female employees has increased significantly. You'll be able to take on the challenges of large-scale work that connects the skies of Hokkaido in a gender-neutral environment.

How to spend your holidays
I'm always checking out places and gourmet food that interest me, and on my days off I head out to those places. My motto is "Go wherever you can, when you can!", and sometimes I leave for my travel destination straight from New Chitose Airport after work.
