Employee Interview
Hakodate Airport Business Office Management Department, Regional Coexistence Division and General Affairs Division
Please tell us about your work
I work in the Management Department Hakodate Airport Office, where I concurrently work in the Community Coexistence Division and General Affairs Division. Hakodate Airport, located close to residential areas, is designated as a "designated airport," and the Community Coexistence Division, which is responsible for environmental conservation in the area, is tasked with compiling data on the noise emitted by aircraft and deepening ties with the local community. The General Affairs Division supports each department within the office, and I am involved in public relations and managing social media.
Why did you apply to HAP during your job search?
I studied tourism at university. Just as I was about to start job hunting, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and tourism-related companies were all postponing hiring. HAP was recruiting, and I wanted to work at an airport, which is the gateway to tourism. I was also attracted by the idea of being part of the inaugural class and creating a new company together.

Please tell us about your career from the time you joined the company to the present.
When I joined the company, I was assigned to the Flight Information Section of the Airport Operations Department at New Chitose Airport Airport, where I was in charge of runway inspections and coordinating tasks related to domestic flights parking. In July 2024, I was transferred to my current department, where my work involves not only aircraft operations but also Terminal Building used by customers. If possible, I would like to continue working in both operations and Terminal Building.
What is your most memorable experience working here?
The Community Coexistence Division is also in charge of organizing events such as "Airport Festa" and cooperating with local festivals. My fondest memory is participating in the main parade "Wasshoi Kokodate" at Hakodate Port Festival with all the people involved. Hakodate Airport This year again, we had a lot of fun recruiting participants, organizing them, and practicing the dances.

What is most important to you in your work?
In my role as a liaison between departments, I try to make information "visible." Whenever possible, I prepare diagrams and photos during meetings, and try to explain difficult technical terms in easy-to-understand terms so that everyone has a clear common understanding. To achieve this, I make a conscious effort to accumulate information and knowledge on a daily basis.
What message would you like to give to those who want to become HAP?
I think HAP is a good fit for people who love airports and airplanes, as well as those who enjoy change and challenges. With a wide variety of departments and tasks at HAP, you're sure to find a job that you'll find rewarding. I'm still learning, so I hope we can work together to improve ourselves. Those who are particularly interested in working at Hakodate Airport are also very welcome!

How to spend your holidays
I enjoy touring popular restaurants in Hakodate. I recently found a restaurant I like, so I line up 30 minutes before it opens and have a sashimi lunch. Another part of my holiday routine is taking a walk along the seaside, which is a three-minute walk from my house in the evening.
