Updates on Wakkanai Airport Sky Day Festival 2024!
We would like to announce some details of the events at the Wakkanai Airport Sky Day Festival 2024, which will be held on Sunday, July 21st from 10:00-15:00!
ANA Marshalling Experience Class (Pre-registration event)
What is a Marshaller?
A marshal is a person who signals the pilot with a paddle in his hand and guides the plane. The cockpit is located high up, and the marshal plays an important role in guiding the plane, which has many blind spots, to the safe parking area.
In this event, you will learn about marshalling methods in advance, and then you will be able to experience marshalling in front of an actual airplane that has landed in Wakkanai! This is a rare opportunity, so please apply!

Fry to Fly Project
Organized by Wakkanai Airport Sky Day Festival Executive Committee (Secretariat: Hokkaido Airports Co., Ltd. Wakkanai Airport Office): At the "Wakkanai Airport Sky Day Festival 2024", we will be setting up a used cooking oil refurbishment booth as part of the "Fry to Fly Project" initiative!
The edible oil you bring will be used as raw material for making environmentally friendly sustainable aviation fuel called "SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel)".
On the day, we will give away salad oil to those who bring in used cooking oil (the first 50 people!).
There will also be a corner to introduce this project, so please take this opportunity to cooperate with us towards realizing a safe and sustainable society!
