Hokkaido Prefectural Police Aviation Unit Obihiro Detachment

As the Hokkaido Prefectural Police's helicopter unit, it is based at Obihiro Airport and is dispatched to various incidents, accidents, and life-saving scenes throughout Hokkaido.

Independent Administrative Institution Aviation College Obihiro Branch

"There is an Aviation College in Obihiro." Aim to become a pilot! The Aviation College's Obihiro campus is located at Tokachi Obihiro Airport, where students aiming to become airline pilots undergo training. Students undergo five months of academic education at the Miyazaki campus in Kyushu, and then six months of flight training at Obihiro campus. In other words, this is where they first hold the control stick and experience their first solo flight. Obihiro is the place where many students aiming to become airline pilots take their first steps into the sky. Currently, about 40% of airline pilots in Japan are graduates of the Aviation College, and 108 students live in a dormitory adjacent to the airport each year and train hard every day.
