About Cheongju City/Cheongju International Airport
Cheongju City
Cheongju is a city located inland of South Korea, about 110 km away from the capital, Seoul, in a straight line. It has a population of about 850,000, and there are many high-rise apartment buildings in the city center, and restaurants are open until late.
It takes about 50 minutes one way from Osong Station on the outskirts of Cheongju to Seoul by KTX high-speed train, or about 1 hour and 40 minutes one way by express bus.
The city is home to department stores, outlet malls, numerous city hotels, bustling markets, art galleries and museums, and Korean drama filming locations, allowing you to enjoy a side of Korea that is a little different from Seoul or Busan.
It is said to be the birthplace of samgyeopsal, and the city even has an arcade street called Samgyeopsal Street.
Cheongju International Airport
Located on the outskirts of Cheongju City, this airport has many domestic flights (to Jeju Island) and international flights flights (to Japan and other Asian countries) operated by Korean airlines. The terminal is more compact than Incheon Airport in Seoul, but immigration and departure are smoother, and restaurants, food courts, foreign currency exchange offices, and duty-free shops are also open. This airport has been attracting attention in recent years, with a succession of new routes opening, including the Cheongju-Tokachi Obihiro Airport route.
The official website clearly lists information about the facilities and services within the airport, floor maps, and the flight status of each airline for the day. There is also a Japanese version, so you can rest assured.

Cheongju has not been well known to Japanese people until now, but it has good transport links to Seoul, so you can enjoy shopping at Myeongdong and Lotte Duty Free via Cheongju! For more information, please check out the flyer image below!
